WAVODE
Terms of service

The rules for using Wavode — plain English, no lawyer-speak.

Last updated: September 10, 2026

Short version: the patterns on wavode.com are free for personal use. You can sell items you crochet from them in small quantities as long as you credit the pattern. You cannot resell, republish, or redistribute the pattern text or photos themselves.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Wavode ( wavode.com ). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. For any question, write to support@wavode.com.

2. What Wavode provides

Wavode is a free crochet-pattern blog. It publishes written patterns, photographs, tutorial notes, and a few browser-based tools (yarn calculator, hook converter, gauge helper) at /tools. Ad-free printable PDF versions of the patterns are sold separately on Etsy — those transactions are governed by Etsy's own terms.

3. Pattern license — what you can and cannot do

3.1 You can

  • Crochet Wavode patterns as many times as you like for yourself or as gifts.
  • Sell the finished items you make from a Wavode pattern in reasonable, small-scale quantities (local craft fairs, small Etsy shops, one-off commissions), provided you credit «Pattern by Wavode — wavode.com» in the product listing.
  • Link to any pattern on wavode.com from your own blog, social media, or Pinterest board, using our own preview images and a link back.

3.2 You cannot

  • Copy, republish, mirror, translate, or redistribute the pattern text — in whole or in part — on any other website, PDF, video, or printed publication.
  • Sell the pattern itself, in any form (including as a «free bonus» with other products).
  • Mass-produce Wavode designs (factory manufacture, dropshipping, wholesale). The small-scale sales license in 3.1 is for individual makers, not businesses producing at scale.
  • Reuse Wavode photographs on your own site, product listings, or marketing materials without written permission. Link to the source page instead.
  • Use Wavode text, photos, or patterns to train machine-learning or generative-AI systems.

3.3 Attribution

When you sell a finished item made from a Wavode pattern, include a short credit line in the product description, for example: «Made from the ‘Piko the Pond Turtle’ pattern by Wavode — wavode.com».

4. Intellectual property

All patterns, written instructions, photographs, illustrations, videos, and site design published on wavode.com are the property of Wavode and are protected by copyright. The license granted in Section 3 is limited and non-exclusive. Any use outside that license requires prior written permission — reach us at support@wavode.com.

5. The free tools

The yarn calculator, hook converter, and gauge helper are provided free of charge, as convenience utilities. They run entirely in your browser. We do our best to keep them accurate, but the outputs are estimates — always swatch and verify your gauge before starting a project. Wavode is not responsible for yarn purchased in error, projects abandoned, or gauge disasters based on a tool's output.

6. Acceptable use

Please don't use Wavode in ways that would harm the site or other people. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Scrape the site at a rate that meaningfully impacts service for other visitors, or use automated systems (bots, crawlers) except for search engine indexing.
  • Attempt to bypass access controls, probe for vulnerabilities, or otherwise interfere with the site's security.
  • Use the site to distribute malware, spam, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights.

7. External links and third parties

Wavode links to external sites — most often Etsy, Pinterest, and Instagram — for shopping, sharing, or reference. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, terms, or privacy practices. When you click through, their terms apply.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Wavode is provided «as is», without warranty of any kind. We try hard to keep patterns accurate, tools working, and the site online, but we can't guarantee that every stitch count is perfect, every calculation flawless, or that the site will be free from bugs and outages. If you find an error in a pattern, please email us at support@wavode.com — we'll fix it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wavode and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, its patterns, or its tools — including lost yarn, wasted time, missed deadlines, or emotional damage from a project that didn't turn out. Your sole remedy for any complaint is to stop using the site.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, we'll change the «Last updated» date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage for at least one week. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Termination

We can suspend or block access to Wavode for anyone who violates these terms — most importantly, anyone republishing our pattern text or photos without permission. You can «terminate» the agreement at any time by not using the site.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
